Local ProjectsH.G. LaVelle LandfillDEQ is working with the owner of the closed H.G. LaVelle Landfill to remove methane gas in the soil at the site. Located at NE 82nd and Siskiyou in Portland, the site is near a residential area. The landfill received demolition debris until in closed in 1982. The material within the landfill includes some organic matter such as plants and wood. When organic matter decomposes it often produces methane gas which can rise to the surface at a closed landfill. This web page contains information about the investigation and ongoing methane mitigation a the site. Fact SheetContact Information |
