Site Response ProgramThe Site Response Program works to investigate and clean up contaminated sites throughout Oregon that otherwise may not be cleaned up. If the parties responsible for contamination at a site choose not to address the contamination, either on their own or under the oversight of DEQ's Voluntary Cleanup Program, Site Response will seek to investigate the site under an enforceable order or decree. Enforceable orders, which include penalties for non-compliance, are required for sites on the Environmental Protection Agency's National Priorities List (NPL). If a party remains unwilling to investigate or clean up a site, the site may be referred to DEQ's Orphan Site Program. Our MissionTo oversee and expedite, through enforcement processes, the thorough investigation and appropriate cleanup of hazardous substance sites, in an effort to protect public health and safety, and the environment.
